Leading environmental group betrays America by avoiding immigration issues.
by Charles Coughlin
THE MOST important issue that will affect the forests and wildlife in America is not what sort of cars we drive or whether there’s freon in our air conditioners. The number one issue that will affect the environment is immigration. Immigration swells our population forcing further encroachment on wild areas. Illegal immigration brings into our country large numbers of Third World people, who tend to be the most destructive toward the environment. Why then, is the top leadership of the Sierra Club doing everything it can to avoid this issue?
A massive population increase is unquestionably bad for the environment. More people means more cars and more pollution. More homes will be needed and that means the suburbs will push even further into the wilderness. As soon as a soccer mom sees a bear or cougar within 300 feet of her kids, a demand will understandably go up to relocate or kill all the dangerous animals in each suburb, which is where the forest used to be.
Even more important is the ethnicity of people, who are immigrants. White people have proven over and over that they will pay for expensive smog control devices on their cars and pay taxes and higher prices so that industry produces less pollution. White people also have a slow population growth. Mexicans however will become squatters in a national forest if they can get away with it. Similar poor people in Indonesia and Brazil have cut down large portions of the rain forests for their subsistence farms. Our national parks could suffer the same fate. Mexicans living inside the US continue to have large families just like their cousins south of the border.
Despite the importance of population growth and the horrific environmental example set by the Third World, the leaders of the Sierra Club won’t touch the immigration issue. The Sierra Club has a far left leadership that is more committed to liberal causes such as flooding America with non-Whites than they are to protecting the environment. They would rather spend all their time attacking big business and capitalism, rather than take a serious look at the danger posed by millions of illegal immigrants flooding America each year.
In 1998 frustrated members of the Sierra Club staged a “mutiny” by putting immigration on the ballot. 40 percent of the membership back then voted against immigration. In the last seven years the immigration problem has gotten much worse. To further highlight the issue, a major wildfire in southern California which destroyed a vast area of forest was caused by a Latino, who became lost and set a signal fire that got out of control.
In 2005, extremely frustrated members of the Sierra Club put immigration on the ballot for their latest election on April 25th. The Board of Directors has announced the results of the election, claiming that only 16 percent voted against immigration. A CNN article reports “Sierra Club members Monday flatly rejected a change in the group’s policies that would have advocated reducing immigration to the United States as a way to protect the environment. The proposal was defeated by nearly 84 percent of the 122,308 members who voted.”
This result is frankly unbelievable. 75 percent of ordinary Americans believe there is a serious immigration problem. Even assuming the Sierra Club has a higher proportion of liberals (and communists) than the general population, it is literally beyond belief that the percentage of people in the Sierra Club objecting to immigration could drop from 40 percent to 16 percent.
One Sierra Club member complained that the Board of Directors put a competing question on the ballot which undermined a straight yes-or-no vote on the immigration issue. It would be no surprise if the leftist leadership resorted to a dirty trick. It would also be no surprise if leftists flat out stole votes so that the Sierra Club continues to follow a Marxist agenda instead of an environmentalist agenda.
