Free health care for illegal aliens

Starting Tuesday, the federal government began reimbursing hospitals and other health-care providers for emergency care provided to illegal aliens.
Don’t blame the hospitals. Blame Congress and large corporations.
An estimated 3 million people – most of them from Mexico, but tens of thousands from countries that export terror – will file into the United States this year illegally.
Illegal immigration has soared to record levels since President Bush announced in 2003 his goal of a “temporary worker program.”
Mexican citizens took that as an open invitation to immigrate, even though Congress has not passed Bush’s proposal, which is what many consider to be amnesty.

Time, regarded by conservatives as the bastion of the liberal mainstream media, goes where no politically correct news magazine or right-wing publication dares to go: to the truth about illegal immigration.
Donald L. Bartlett and James B. Steele – an investigative team whose work dwarfs Woodward and Bernstein’s – lays bare the American immigration system in a 5,000-plus-word story.
The magazine reports that since 1986, there has been a law on the books fining companies $10,000 for every illegal alien on their payroll, and providing for possible jail time for corporate executives. But the number of official orders levying such fines has dropped from more than 1,000 in 1992 to 13 in 2002 – a 99 percent plummet.
And don’t buy the argument that illegals are coming here to find better jobs to improve the lots of their families. Many already have jobs lined up before they leave Mexico, the magazine reported. What few criminal prosecutions there have been, including against Tyson’s chicken, proved that companies are arranging for illegal aliens – and the fake IDs that would allow them to stay here – like they would place an order for spare parts.
Many of the illegal aliens are violent felons who commit additional crimes in the U.S. and then flee back to Mexico.
Neither the Republicans nor Democrats are clean in all of this. Representatives and senators have traded America’s security for campaign contributions that will allow most of them to stay in office for life, if that’s what they want.
And their constituents are letting them get away with it. Some of the same constituents who now have less health care than criminals crossing our borders illegally.
