Israel is threat to Middle East security, Iran says.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said the Zionist regime is a threat to regional and international peace and security and the UN Security Council should investigate this issue, IRNA reported.
“If countries intend to adopt a fundamental and serious measure, they should send the Zionist regime’s case to the Security Council because of its threats to peace and security,” Asefi told a regular news conference.
“Zionist Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and his friends are not committed to any principles. The Islamic Republic has been pessimistic about its (Israel’s) goals since the beginning and has announced the matter for several times,” he said.
Asefi also stressed that no Iranian military personnel were present in Lebanon.
Asked about the current visit of Druze opposition leader Walid Jumblatt to Iran, Asefi noted the visit is taking place within the framework of Iran’s policy of holding talks with various Lebanese groups.
