The United States government already acknowledges the existence of secret prisons in foreign countries used for extraordinary rendition so that prisoners can be tortured beyond the access of the U.S. courts. Now they’re bringing the first secret prisons and concentration camps to the United States itself. The Denver police admit that they have established a secret prison for protesters and other prisoners arrested at the Democratic national convention next week, who might be prone to mar the coronation of the Funky Monkey with unseemly questions and noise.

Channel 9 News in Denver reports that “The makeshift holding center, dubbed Gitmo on the Platte by activists, is located on city-owned property near Steele Street and 38th Avenue. Newly-installed security cameras guard the exterior, chain-link fences and barbed wire form cells inside. ‘We feel the city should be ashamed of this secret prison they’ve set up,” said Re-create ‘68 organizer Glenn Spagnuolo.”

There has been talk of Hillary trying to disrupt the convention. She lost the primary by about two hundred delegates, which is a fairly substantial loss. She has been trying to pressure Obama to add her to the ticket as a VP, but Obama isn’t that foolish. No intelligent person would want that shrew lurking in the shadows with the memory of Vince Foster, Ron Brown and about four dozen other associates of the Clintons who died under mysterious circumstances.

With no chance of winning the primary or “charming” her way onto the ticket, Hillary may take a page from the neocons and challenge Obama on his citizenship. Rumors have been flying for months that Obama was not born in the US, which is a requirement to become president. Obama’s father was a Kenyan politician, who may have wanted his son to be born in Kenya so he would have dual citizenship. It’s an extremely easy matter for someone to get their birth certificate from the state of Hawaii –if they have one. A phony, photo-shopped birth certificate for Obama was posted on one website sympathetic to Obama with no seal and no document number on it. Obama recently took a break in Hawaii. One wonders if that trip may have involved him trying to “create” papers which don’t exist.

The Channel 9 article continues “Spagnuolo and other activists gathered outside the formerly-secret facility on Friday to protest the city’s plan to use it as a processing center for all those arrested outside the DNC. ‘What’s going to happen here is police are going to detain people for an inordinate amount of time,’ said Unconventional Denver organizer Ben Yager. ‘They’re going to use this as an excuse to keep people out of the courts and off of the streets.’ Protest groups questioned whether the makeshift facility would be suitable for inhabitation after years as a storage facility.”

The Hillary supporters are unlikely to riot and cause trouble so one wonders why anyone would need a mass detention center. What no one will say out loud, of course, is that the Denver police are creating such holding facilities and otherwise making preparations for the mass arrest of black Barack Obama supporters who might riot should the citizenship question arise and Obama has no answer to it.
