United States angry over Israeli sales to China.
The United States has suspended Israel from participating in the production of a new generation of jet fighter aircraft because the Pentagon is fuming over what it claims are unauthorized Israeli arms sales to China.
The long-simmering dispute over Israeli arms sales involving sensitive U.S.-generated technologies appears to have boiled over into a confrontation that could undermine Israel’s relationship with its most important strategic partner.
U.S. officials are reportedly furious over a recent deal in which Israel allegedly breached a U.S. high-tech export ban by secretly agreeing to upgrade a fleet of unmanned attack drones it sold to China in the late 1990s.
Israel sold China a fleet of Harpy drones, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), in 1999.
