Scientists announce artificial life on the horizon.

According to the Guardian newspaper in Great Britain: “Craig Venter, the controversial DNA researcher involved in the race to decipher the human genetic code, has built a synthetic chromosome out of laboratory chemicals and is poised to announce the creation of the first new artificial life form on Earth. The announcement, which is expected within weeks and could come as early as Monday at the annual meeting of his scientific institute in San Diego, California, will herald a giant leap forward in the development of designer genomes. It is certain to provoke heated debate about the ethics of creating new species and could unlock the door to new energy sources and techniques to combat global warming.”

Global warming? I’m sorry, I don’t get that. Are we going to create a race of human beings who can live and work and play in 130-degree heat without sweating, something like that? Are we to be given gills so we can live in the ocean where it’s nice and cool? Or does everything have to be tied to the cult of Global Warming to get funding these days?

The same article notes: “The Guardian can reveal that a team of 20 top scientists assembled by Mr Venter, led by the Nobel laureate Hamilton Smith, has already constructed a synthetic chromosome, a feat of virtuoso bio-engineering never previously achieved. Using lab-made chemicals, they have painstakingly stitched together a chromosome that is 381 genes long and contains 580,000 base pairs of genetic code. The DNA sequence is based on the bacterium Mycoplasma genitalium which the team pared down to the bare essentials needed to support life, removing a fifth of its genetic make-up. The wholly synthetically reconstructed chromosome, which the team have christened Mycoplasma laboratorium, has been watermarked with inks for easy recognition. It is then transplanted into a living bacterial cell and in the final stage of the process it is expected to take control of the cell and in effect become a new life form. The team of scientists has already successfully transplanted the genome of one type of bacterium into the cell of another, effectively changing the cell’s species. Mr Venter said he was ‘100% confident’ the same technique would work for the artificially created chromosome.”

It’s really odd to look at the growing and spreading racial and economic and political chaos all around the world, the drunken tyrant in the White House about to attack Iran –perhaps even while Putin is visiting that nation, the militant Gays demanding more rights and recognition, and the general, steady descent into a Third World USA as we slowly circle the bowl waiting for the final flush. While America bobsleds its way to Gomorrah, behind the scenes, in a thousand secret laboratories, all this incredibly weird stuff from artificial life to immortality treatments to genetically-engineered people to who-knows-what kind of technology at Area 51 is going on behind the scenes as society collapses all around us.

While all this technological research marches on, the one branch of science, “eugenics” which could solve most of society’s problems in just one or two generations is a completely “taboo” subject. Eugenics can’t be discussed in polite society today because a high percentage of the people, who should be sterilized, are Latino or Black. The idea of sterilizing millions of welfare mothers and gang bangers and eliminating most of our crime and other social problems is still too revolutionary for Science —even as they stand on the brink of creating artificial life (which really should be much more controversial than sterilizing criminals and social parasites).
