The Impending War on Iran

Atom Bomb

The neocons are carefully laying the groundwork for a new war. One news article notes that our government has secretly drawn up a plan to attack Iran with nuclear weapons in the event of another 911 style attack against the US. There doesn’t even have to be proof that Iran was involved. Of course Iraq wasn’t involved in the original 911 attack, but that didn’t stop Bush from making war on them.

The most recent neocon argument for war is that some conventional explosive bombs allegedly have been smuggled from Iran to the Iraqi rebels. Given the extreme dishonesty of the neocons, it would be no surprise if (1).this story is a complete fiction with not even one shred of truth to it or (2).rogue CIA agents paid a few million dollars to some Iranian criminals, who illegally obtained bombs and smuggled them over the border. The Iranians are not fools. They know that the neocons want to make war against them and they are not going to take a risk to help the rebels, who do not even need their help. The Iraqi rebels are already winning the insurgency war against the occupation forces. The US military went into Iraq with too few troops and gigantic stockpiles of bombs went unguarded for months. Thousands of tons of explosives and other weapons were looted and hidden throughout Iraq. The Iraqi rebels will have bombs for the next 20 years thanks to the poor war planning by the chickenhawks of the Bush administration.

George Bush is in very serious trouble. People are asking tough questions about the war while Bush mouths his “stay the course” line like a mindless parrot. The Cindy Sheehan phenomenon is giving a huge boost to the anti-war movement. Bush is losing his “folksy” image and coming off arrogant and aloof –unwilling to meet a poor, bereaved mom, whose son died in a pointless war. A new war or “terrorist” attack on the US would provide a convenient distraction for Bush.

Why are we being pushed into a war with Iran? The Israelis are paranoid that Iran might develop a nuclear bomb. There are dozens of small nations around the world, which have had nuclear reactors for DECADES and which have not built nuclear bombs. Almost every nation in Europe has a nuclear reactor, but only France, Britain and Russia have nuclear weapons. It took Israel about 20 to 25 years to obtain a nuclear bomb even with massive financial aid from the US and an abundance of Jewish physicists, who worked in the American atomic bomb project –many of whom were no doubt recruited by Israel. The Israelis with French assistance built a nuclear weapon facility at Dimona by 1958 and it took another 10 to 15 years for the first A-bomb. It is far from easy to build a nuclear bomb even with a nuclear reactor. A Third World nation such as Iraq or Iran would need decades and billions of dollars to make an A-Bomb. Meanwhile Israel has 200 hydrogen bombs, which are a much greater threat to Europe and America than most people realize.

The ONLY reason today for a small nation to go to the extreme expense of building an atomic bomb is the fear that the US will attack them. North Korea finished up its atomic bomb project after Bush’s “axis of evil” speech and repeated threats against them. Now that North Korea has its A-bomb, it is safe. This is establishing a terrible precedent. Dozens of small nations will likely pursue A-bomb projects for fear of another “George Bush” arbitrarily attacking them.

We need to impeach George Bush as soon as possible. A recent Zogby poll found that 42 percent of Americans favored impeaching Bush if it were proven he lied us into the Iraq War. The Downing Street Memos and the Nigerian Yellowcake story are proof that Bush lied us into war. If too many Congressmen are pressured by the Israeli Lobby not to impeach Bush, we should prosecute Bush. The 1996 War Crimes Act makes all US politicians criminally liable if they played any role in allowing torture. This is a federal crime. All we need is one grand jury with a little backbone which is willing to file charges against Bush.

Time is running out. The neocons have always wanted a series of wars against Muslim nations, not just Iraq. They have just devised a clear plot to nuke Iran. Bush must be prosecuted or impeached BEFORE he throws us into another war and before another mysterious “terrorist” attack occurs.
