Second “Wall of Separation” to possibly be built in Hebron.
Israel considers building another barrier to separate Jews and Arabs in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, Israeli security officials said.
The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the Israeli army has handed over its plan for the wall to the attorney general Menachem Mazus for a ruling.
The officials claimed that building the Hebron wall would end the constant friction between the Jews and the Palestinians in the area.
About 400 Jews live with some 170,000 Palestinians in Hebron. It wasn’t clear what will happen to the 30,000 Palestinians who live in the Israeli-controlled area if the wall is built in the city.
Hebron mayor Mustafa Abd al-Nabi al-Natshe said that building a separation wall in the city “would distort, deform and disfigure one of the world’s most ancient towns; it would be a real crime against humanity,”
It would be “a thousand times worse than the Berlin wall”, Natshe said, adding that the Israeli army want to “decimate the lives of 170,000 Palestinians for the sake of 400 Jewish fanatics.”
